Hello class. I am your new teacher Professor Rose. Now, I have been looking over your curriculum so far and see that there has been quite a bit of fun and games and not much learning going on. Well, I will tell you right now, I do not mind if you have fun, but too much of it will cause your house to lose points. Please, no spamming! I will not tolerate it and will delete your post. If you spam enough, I will give you detention. Am I understood?
*Looks out at students over glasses, daring them to disobey her*
Are there any questions before I begin the lesson?

Hobbes slouches in her chair and raises her hand, "I feel funny Professor, may I go to the nurse?"

Okay class; on with the first lesson. Today we will be studying the ingredients of the polyjuice potion. We will NOT, I repeat, will NOT be brewing this potion just yet. First I would like you to write 2-3 paragraphs on AT LEAST four of the following ingredients. Describe their properties, the origin of the ingredient, what else it can be used for, etc. If you would like to do an ingredient that you cannot find more information on, you may, but it MUST be plausable. I will list the ingredients below, and the website to find the information needed. You may need to search around a bit, and you may need to infer; not everything will be laid out right in front of you. Requirements: 2-3 paragraphs (eight sentences or more per paragraph) If you have less then eight sentences, points will be taken off. Points: Participation is 15 points. 25% of grade = Punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc. 25% of grade = Did you meet the requirements? Did you make it plausable? 25% of grade = Details and sentence variety along with the use of metaphors and similies. 25% of grade = How it feels. (explained below) I will be grading this using a hologistic grading system. This means that while I will be grading you on grammer, spelling, etc., you will also be graded by how it sounds and makes you feel. Do the sentences flow together? This assignment is worth 100 points. If you do not complete it, you will not be able to make the actual potion in the next lesson. Extra credit can be given out to those who exced the expectations. The ingredients are as follow: 12 Lacewing Flies 1 oz. of crude Antimony 4 Leeches (unsucculated) 16 Scruples of Fluxweed 3 Drachms of pulverised Sal Ammoniac Knotgrass blades, pluverised 1 pinch of horn of Bicorn (lunar extracted) ...& rasplings of Salpeter, Mercury, Mars ...skin of a boomslang (dessicated) (piece of) The-Transfigured-Being-To-Be The website is as follows: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_potter_potions#Minor_potionsThis assignment is due March 10, 2007. I will not accept late work.

Since no one has decided to turn in their homework, each house loses 20 points each. I will give everyone until March 15 to turn in their homework. If no one turns in their homework by then, an additional 50 points will be taken from each house. And since everyone will have had extra time, I expect there to be no mistakes.

No one is used to having a set return date on homework, so this is mute.
